Jaguar to Officially Reveal I-Pace Electric SUV on March 1

The price of the I-Pace is expected to be about 10-15 percent higher than that of an F-Pace of a similar specification, so although Jaguar is still remaining tight-lipped on final pricing details the I-Pace is expected to cost around £60,000 ($80,000).

The Jaguar I-Pace has first revealed to the world in concept form at the Los Angeles Auto Show as long ago now as 2016. Since then, Jaguar has periodically come forward with news and images of the I-Pace in concept form, but the all-electric luxury SUV has still to be properly revealed to the world as a production model. But at last, the much-anticipated I-Pace will finally be officially revealed on March 1 at a special event ahead of its global debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.

Even ahead of that March reveal, we have now been told by Jaguar about the range and the charging capability of its first all-electric model, which is designed as a direct competitor to the likes of the Tesla Model X and the upcoming Audi e-tron.

The I-Pace will be a four-wheel drive SUV with a range of around 310 miles, although that range is measured using the New European Driving Cycle, which is still considerably more generous than its American EPA counterpart. What isn't open to debate though, is the impressive charging capability of the I-Pace. When using a 100 kW charger, the Jaguar is capable of being recharged to 80 percent of its capacity within just 40 minutes, as long as you have access to a 100 kW charger, of course.

A big advantage the I-Pace has over its rival the Audi E-Tron is that it will beat the German model into showrooms later this year, which means it will be able to claim the honor of being the first electric SUV from a luxury manufacturer. Those who champion the Tesla Model X may dispute that fact as the Tesla is already on sale, but insiders claim the Jaguar and Audi will offer a more traditional SUV experience, so both of them should be considered to be in a slightly different segment to the Tesla.
